Antique English Naturalistic Table Gong in Brass C.1880

Description

A very handsome Victorian polished brass, the frame in the form of wooden branches with additional cast leaf decorations.

The circular gong hangs from what appears to be the original cord, still in excellent condition. The strike rests on two hooks to the front. One of the feet has a patent number, hard to decipher, it certainly dates to the late nineteenth century, around 1880 / 1890.

The footprint measures 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" and stands 11 1/2" tall; the gong diameter measures 6" and the strike measures 11" in length.
