Gents 9ct Rose Gold Left Handed Wrist Watch, 1920s

1900 - 1920
Description

A 1920s 9ct rose gold gents left handed wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one minute over 24 hours.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 carat rose gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Birmingham 1922. Over the years, there has been some repair work to the lugs and the hinge they are all nice and secure.

The back of the watch has been engraved and reads, "Presented to J Willis by the Hunts Teachers Association NUT, in appreciation of his devoted service as Hon Secretary 12th May 1923".

There are some small indentations to the case but overall the condition is very acceptable for an early wrist watch.

The main face of the watch glass is in good condition there are a couple of chips to the very edge.

The enamel dial has a good clear dial with an outer minute track. There is a chip underneath the number 9 and a faint hairline crack. One of the hands is a later replacement.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.
