A wonderful antique hand carved figural inkwell featuring the most charming dog complete with is original glass eyes.

The dog sits behind a broken rotten log (not damaged, carved this way), the log being hollow, you can see his other paw sitting inside the wooden log. This was carved to create an integral pen tray where your dip pen could rest.

The head of the dog lifts to reveal the removable glass ink bottle, making it easy to clean and refill.

Dating to around 1880, this wonderful gem remains in superb condition. 7" x 4 1/4" tall.
