The top of the box is fitted with a cast steel swing handle, the box complete with a working key.

The top removable tray retains the original deep Burgundy velvet, all hand embroidered with gold coloured beads. The contents include two pairs of steel scissors, a wonderful carved Mother a Mother Of Pearl & gold needle case / Etui, a Mother Of Pearl and gold thimble, a cut crystal scent bottle with gold lid, two small Mother of Pearl spools and a couple of other pieces, looks like one small instrument is missing.

Underneath the tray, the original silk lining is intact.
Dating to c.1820, this fabulous box remains in superb condition. The footprint measures 7 3/4" x 5", the lid measuring 10" x 7 1/4" and stands 4 3/4" tall excluding handle.
