Description

Extraordinary pair of late 19th.c. carved oriental armchairs c.1890. In solid teak, the chairs would have been produced in China as export furniture to appeal to European tastes. So we have an English pattern chair with extensive oriental carved detail across the front, rear and sides. Incredibly the frame of each chair is carved with 41 dragons, most impressively on the backrest, front legs and the arms where they carry wonderful lion’s heads. Note also the bamboo pattern detail to the seat edge. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Dimensions: width 22", depth 21", height 43".
