A large and stunning Ormolu (gilt bronze) clock set mounted with exquisite Sèvres style porcelain.
The delicately painted panel to the front shows a charming scene of a young man serenading a lady in a country setting. Candelabra are similarly styled with twirling branches carrying four lights. The central sconce has the Rococo snuffers as finials. Porcelain urns depict the happy young couple with country scenes to the panels in the bases. The ormolu is in lovely original condition, with a bright and clean finish.

The large dial is porcelain painted, beautifully painted with a village scene. It is complete with original fretted brass hands and Rococo bezel.
The French movement is by A. D. Mougin and is of the makers usual high quality. We have fully overhauled the movement including rigorous testing to ensure trouble-free running for you. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. Porcelain is all in excellent condition, even the over-glaze gilt decoration has only minor wear. Candelabra are slightly distorted and the central sconce inserts may have been replaced. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.

About us - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
