Antique English Garland Engraved Biscuit Box or Barrel C.1890

Description

A wonderful late Victorian biscuit box or barrel dating by the top notch silversmith, James Dixon & Sons.

What makes this one stand out is the wonderful engraved floral garlands running right around the glass, above this there is a cut glass frieze and the underside having a deep star cut.

The collar, folding handle and lid are all made from silverplate, the underside of the lid having the makers marks and also marked EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.

Dating to around 1890, it remains in superb condition measuring 5" in in diameter x 7" tall to top of finial or 9" tall to top of handle.
