Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The arms culminate in carved animal heads. The seat is also caned (all newly done) and comes with a red squab cushion. It stands on turned legs with barley twist stretcher. A statement piece that would work well in an entrance or hallway.
