17th Century Oak Mule Chest Inscribed Rf 1653 - English Commonwealth Period, Cromwell Appointed 1653

Description

A stylish 17th century oak mule chest with blanket box and cushion drawer underneath, running on side runners. The chest is three panel to the front and two planked to the top. Original ring hinges and lock (missing staple). Internally the original candle box is still intact with it's lid.

The top rail is inscribed with the initials RF and dated 1653. 1653 being a significant year as Oliver Cromwell was appointed Lord Protectorate of England, Scotland and Ireland.

The is particularly well proportioned 42w x 20d x 24.5h
