Antique 1912 Wilsdorf & Davis Silver Pocket Watch

A silver Wilsdorf & Davis pocket watch.

The watch has a has a high grade stem-winding lever movement with jewelled pallets and Breguet spiral, stamped Swiss Made. It is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around three minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks on both of the back covers for London (import mark), 1912, with a maker's mark of W&D for Wilsdorf & Davis. Wilsdorf & Davis became Rolex around 1910 but they were also producing private label watches for retailers, and often the dial would be left blank for the retailer to add their details if they wished, as with this particular watch. The case is in good condition with just light surface marks.

The watch lens is glass; it has some marks commensurate with its age but is very acceptable.

The dial is enamel and the condition is good with just the odd small mark and a faint hairline crack, and a ring on the subsidiary seconds dial.
