Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The fire back is decorated with the story of King Charles who was reputed to have hidden in the Oak tree to avoid capture, you can see the crowns and his initials quite clearly
The Fire back and the Andirons are original and in good used condition, the grate is a replacement
The Fire back, Andirons and Grate assembly is 37” high, 45” wide and 19” deep
