A stunning and absolutely charming figural inkwell in the form of a stunning Canine head (King Charles Spaniel?). Beautifully cast in Bronze with superb detail, he is lucky enough to have retained his original glass eyes.

What makes this one very unusual is the that it is the nose that opens to reveal the inkwell with a glass liner fixed inside. The hinged nose is then able to hold a fine dip pen as a pen rest, I have included this pen with the sale to create the perfect desk-top display.

Dating to the Victorian era, around 1880, it remains in excellent condition with a base diameter measuring 4 1/4" and standing 3" tall.
