A Good Floor-standing Mahogany Globe

1900 - 1920
Description

An attractive and good quality FLOOR-STANDING GLOBE probably dating from the 1920's or 1930's.

Standing on "pirouette" tripod feel, the solid mahogany turned column supports the globe via its cast brass "gnomon" which allows the globe to be displayed at any angle.

The legs are united by turned stretchers which are conjoined by the horizontal compass (7.5ins diameter), however this compass is currently not working, as the hand needs re-magnetising! Nevertheless a good and impressive globe in excellent condition. 35ins (89cms) high.
