Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The bench is a real country piece with Shepherd’s crook arms.

Taking into consideration the age of this piece it is in good condition, the plinth at the base has been replaced at some time, the lid opening has the blacksmith made butterfly hinges these seem to be the originals.

The settle is 48” high at the back and 58” wide, it is 18” deep, and the seat is 17” high
