FB Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
There is also a cupboard to the centre which opens to display another small drawer. The secretaire is fitted with a red leather insert which is in good condition. Below this there are three long drawers. At each end of the bookcase there is a single short drawer with a cupboard below.
