Antique Jules Girod Pocket Watch & Albertina

Description

An antique Jules Girod pocket watch, circa 1880s.

The watch has a key-winding movement (a new winding key will be included) which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Jules Girod and it is protected by an inner dust cover.

The watch measures 40mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case has tested as being silver although there are no hallmarks. The case has a hinged front and back, with engine turned detail and a vacant cartouche to the back. There are some little 'dings' to the back of the watch but overall the condition is very acceptable for an 1880s piece.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The silver dial is very pretty with exquisite detail; there are minor marks but nothing too serious at all.

The watch comes on a dainty albertina, which is testing as being silver. The albertina measures 19.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
