Vintage 1920s Gold Plated 'The Merit' Pocket Watch

Description

A vintage 1920s gold plated 'The Merit' pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement, with seven jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to around two minutes over a 24 hour period. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50.5 mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Star Watch Case Co, Ludington, Mich, U.S.A. The case has good engine turned detail to the back with a central vacant cartouche.

The watch lens is glass and is in nice condition.

The dial is enamel and it has a charming vintage appeal with Roman numerals, an outer minute track and original blued steel hands. There is a faint hairline crack between 4 & 5 o'clock but otherwise it is in nice condition.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
