1940s Garrard British Rail Pocket Watch

1920 - 1940
Description

A good quality pocket watch originally retailed by Garrard, former Crown Jewellers.

The watch has a high grade Landeron 2124 stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one minute over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm excluding the winding stem and the loop. The back of the watch has been engraved and reads, 'BR North Eastern Region, F Ames, in appreciation of 45 Years Service'. The case is rolled gold (20 microns) and the condition is good with just a little lifting of the plate around the engraving.

The watch plastic lens has some marks but is acceptable.

The dial is enamel and to the naked eye, it appears in good condition. If viewed through a magnifying loupe, there are faint hairline cracks.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
