Gartley Aberdeen Scottish Georgian Longcase Clock

Description

A quality Georgian Scottish semi-regulator longcase clock. A well proportioned oak case with brass capped fluted front and rear columns. Side glass hood apertures. A regional styled cresting to the hood arch centre. An arched trunk door. An arched brass and silvered dial with strike/silent to the arch. A recessed silvered seconds dial and a date aperture. A high quality 5-pillar mechanism of 8-day duration. A dead-beat escapement with brass cased weights and a heavy regulator pendulum with wooden rod. Hourly bell striking.

John Gartley of Aberdeen is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1783-1823.
