Superb Gillows George IV Rosewood Sofa Table

Description

A superb fine quality George IV Rosewood Sofa Table - attributed to Gillows, circa 1825. This fine quality early 19th century sofa table made using the finest quality Rosewood, having finely figured book matched top with 2 drawers beneath, each drawers having turned Rosewood handles with original locks and key. To the underside the table is finished with a gadrooned edge, raised on tapered reeded supports terminating in a outswept reeded leg with the original finely chased brass lacquered castors. The ends joined by a typical Gillows stretcher rail from the period (please see image from the Gillows Sketch Book).

Dimensions Height 73.5cm - 29 Inches, Width flaps up 144cm - 60 1/2 Inches, Width flaps down 101cm - 39 3/4 Inches, Depth 70cm - 27 1/2 Inches
