Vintage 1940s Cortébert Stem Winding Pocket Watch

A vintage late 1940s Cortébert pocket watch.

Cortébert used to be one of the highest regarded premium watch brands, manufacturing their own movements, supplying movements to other brands such as Rolex and introducing the jump-hour arrangement. When the quartz crisis hit the industry in the 1970s, the majority of prestige brands ceased production including Cortébert.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to around 2 - 3 minutes over a 24 hour period. The movement is stamped Cortébert, 15 Jewels, Swiss Made and the calibre number 726.

The watch measures 49.4 mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The nickel case has surface marks from use although it has a good vintage look.

The watch lens is plastic and has the odd faint surface mark but otherwise it is in nice condition.

The dial is signed Cortébert, AntiMagnetic with Swiss Made at the bottom. The dial has light discolouring to the outer edge but otherwise it is in nice condition.

The watch has its original blued steel hands.
