Antique Silver Longines Pocket Watch, 1916

An antique sterling silver Longines pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is ticking away and the time keeping is good to around 2 - 3 minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped 15 Jewels, Swiss Made, B&Co for Baume & Co (Baume & Co were the importers and agents for Longines for Britain and the Commonwealth). It also has the Longines serial number 3364497 which dates it back to 1915. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover.

The watch measures 48.2 mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The sterling silver case has London import marks for 1916 with the importers stamp A.B (Arthur Baume) and the case also has the same serial number as the movement. The case has light surface marks from use, a rubbed stamp to the edge at 10 o'clock and a mild unevenness to the back but overall it is in nice condition for its age.

The watch lens is plastic and is in good condition.

The white enamel military style dial is in nice condition with only the odd minor mark. The watch has its original blued steel hands although some of the infill is missing; they are initially set by way of the pin-set mechanism.
