Description

A magnificent and very grand large Victorian Tantalus. What makes this one stand out is the exceptional carved Oak frame, quite exquisite.

The fittings are all silver plated and either end of the bar has elegant engraved decoration. The Tantalus comes with the original key which when turned releases the bar far enough allowing removal of the original cut crystal decanters, it then snaps back into place to re-lock the decanters safely away.

During Victorian times, these became a popular item in the finest of hopes, keeping the precious contents locked away from members of the household staff.

Everything is in spectacular condition and ready to impress. The footprint of the base measures 17 1/4" x 7 1/2" and stands 13 3/4" tall to top of handle; each decanter measures 3 1/2" square x 8 1/4" tall.
