Magnificent Antique English Mother of Pearl Shell Card Case

Description

A stunning Victorian card case dating to around 1860 / 1870. It is a fine wallet style example with Mother of Pearl smothering both sides of the slightly domed panels. The front has a sterling silver panel, beautifully engraved with a vacant shield shaped cartouche

The Mother of Pearl to the front is highly decorative with intricate engraving including two butterflies on the right hand side.

The interior is pristine, retaining the original concertinaed paper sections with gold edging and silk lining to both sides; perfect to keep business cards.

All in all, a lovely example in excellent condition. 4 1/4" x 3" while closed.
