A Carved Duck Decoy - Circa 1930

Description

A hand made carved pine duck decoy painted with the green wing flash of a teal or perhaps a male American black duck. The shape is more reminiscent of a black duck. In winter when the wild fowling season is, both are found on lakes and in particular at the coast on salt marsh and small pools. The piece is painted pine with carved in eyes. The wing feathers are beautifully carved into the back to add texture and form. The base has the original fixing for ballast/tether and a painted patch where he has been on a stand.
