Stunning Louis XVI Gilt Brass Candelabra Clock Set

A beautiful original antique French clock set, made in gilded brass in the Louis XVI classical style. The case is architectural in shape, profusely decorated with acanthus, fretwork to the front, a musical motif below the dial and an urn of plenty finial to the top. Candelabra are conforming in style with large, scrolling acanthus branches. We have comprehensively restored this clock set, see our facebook page to see the story!

The stunning dial is cream enamel with blue lettering, separate minute ring and original finely fretted gilt brass hands. The rococo bezel is fitted with convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days. Click the video clip below to watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. Candelabra are slightly distorted. The set makes a stunning display as you can see below.

Complete with pendulum and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
