Stunning English Walnut Jewellery Box with Glazed Doors C.1900

Description

A fabulous Victorian Jewellery box dating to the late 19th century, around 1890 / 1900 with a gentle domed top with flush polished brass carrying handle.

Made from warm and highly decorative Walnut the box is in superb condition with a complete original interior having been superbly preserved for the last 110 years. The lid opens to reveal a fitted jewellery tray lined in silk and velvet. Down each side are ring holders and a central compartment for a pocket watch, perfect today for a wristwatch or bracelet. The interior of the lid is beautifully tufted in silk.

The doors are fitted with thick bevelled glass with two drawers behind again lined with pink silk (minor wear commensurate with age). A real gem, in excellent condition having had all brass fittings professionally re-polished to gleam; and complete with working key, measuring 8 3/4" x 6" x 7" tall.
