Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
To the top there is a recess under a lid trimmed with a brass gallery. There is a very worn green leather writing surface to the top. The top is decorated with inlay to the front it has four carved scroll brackets. There are 2 keys – the top one works the bottom is for decoration only. To the inside of the interior drawer is a label which reads “Willcocks & Dougall 19, Orchard St., Portman Sq”.

Condition Report:
There are some small areas of veneer loss and some old repairs to the veneer on the top as to be expected with age. The door to the side does not close fully. 1 small brass knob missing to the interior. The leather is nicely worn with age. The writing slope is warped – which can be seen from sideways on. It is a stunning, high quality piece, very decorative antique piece of furniture. The price reflects the warped top.
