Gents 1960s 9ct Gold Smiths Astral Wrist Watch

Description

A gents 1960s 9ct gold Smiths Astral wrist watch.

The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement, stamped Made in England, 15 Jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one to two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Edinburgh 1965, with a maker's mark SCW for Smiths Clocks & Watches. The case is in good condition for a 1960s piece with just general light surface marks. The back of the watch has been engraved and reads, 'HDW from Gaflac, 25 Years, 1963'.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Smiths Astral, Made in England. It is in its original finish; there is some light marking but it is acceptable for a 1960s piece. Dauphine shaped hands, subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
