Antique English Walnut Jewellery Box C.1890

Description

A magnificent and most unusual English Walnut jewelry box with a wonderful bright patina. The top has an inset brass carrying handle and two complimentary brass escutcheons to the front, both with working keys.

The domed lid opens to reveal a wonderful blue silk and velvet lined interior, the interior of the lid with the original tufted silk lining. The tray can be removed with a section below which has been professionally re-lined in a complimentary blue.

What of course makes this unusual box is the door below which when unlocked is pushed from the right hand side and revolves 180 degrees to reveal three original cut glass perfume bottles with a mirrored backing. The bottles are hand blown and cut crystal, all in excellent undamaged condition.

A magnificent and magical box in excellent condition. 10" x 6 1/4" x 8 1/4" tall.
