Lady's 1927 9ct Rose Gold Wrist Watch

A lady's 1920s 9 carat rose gold wrist watch from the Tavannes Watch Co.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is a nice quality Swiss made movement, with 15 jewels, signed Tavannes Watch Co.

The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1927, together with the maker's mark SFC for Schwob Frères & Co - the Tavannes Watch Co was set up by Henri Sandoz and Schwob Frères. The case is in good condition for its age; there is a small indentation to the back of the watch but nothing too serious at all. The winding crown appears to be a later replacement.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial has a very nice vintage look with large numbers, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track. There is some marking to the dial but it is all very acceptable for such an early piece.

A later brown leather strap has been fitted.
