Pierre Jules MÊNE: a fine 'animalier' BRONZE SCULPTURE of a goat with its kid.

Probably dating from the middle of the 19th century, this attractive and finely detailed bronze is beautifully cast and modelled with great insight. It is signed in the casting and measures 10ins (25.4cms) high maximum.

** Pierre Jules MÊNE was born in 1810 and was considered to be the founder of the French animalier movement. His work is prolific and highly regarded; he died in 1879.
