Grand Sonnerie Striking Carriage Clock

Description

Pons no. 385 . A grand and petite sonnerie striking carriage clock. A fine quality gilded case with decorative mouldings and feet. A silvered dial masking to the circular enamel dial 5 minute outer markers. A subsidiary dial for the alarm. An 8-day duration mechanism with push button repeating. Lever under the base for silent/g.sonnerie/p.sonnerie. Marked to the backplate with the Pons mark. The original lever escapement. Circa 1880.

Honore Pons was credited with reviving the Saint-Nicolas area of clockmaking in the 1820's.
