An Excellent Set of Eight Original 19th Century Vanity Fair Lithographs of Caricatures of Jockeys of the Day. All framed in their original oak frames bearing name plates of the jockeys and with the original art dealers labels to verso. Charles Wood "Charlie Wood" by Lib published 1886. H.Mornington Cannon "Morny" by Spy published 1891. Tom Cannon by Spy published 1885. Johnny Watts by Lib published 1887. Tom Loates by Spy published 1890. James Woodburn by Spy published 1890. George Fordham "The Demon" by Spy published 1882. Fred Barrett by Lib published 1889. Vanity Fair was a British weekly magazine published from 1868 to 1914. A full page colour lithograph of a caricature of a celebrity appeared in every issue. It is for these caricatures that Vanity Fair is best known today. "Spy" was Leslie Ward who was Vanity Fair's most prolific and celebrated caricaturist. He produced 1325 caricatures from 1873 to 1911. "Lib" was Italian born Libero Prosperi who contributed 55 mainly horseracing caricatures from 1885 to 1903.
