The dog found his way to the London waterfront where he became known for saving people from drowning, a total of twenty–three times over the course of fourteen years. For this, he was made a distinguished member of the Royal Humane Society, granting him a medal and access to food.

The box retains the original paper lining on the interior. There are two (later) packs of playing cards and two Bezique markers and a Bezique playing guide.
Dating to the mid-nineteenth century, the box remains in excellent condition. 7" x 5 1/4" x 2" tall.
