Gents 1913 Silver Borgel Cased Trench Watch

A gents silver Borgel cased trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours.

The watch measures 34mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London, 1913, together with a case maker's mark for François Borgel. The Borgel screw watch case was an early attempt to make wrist watches both dust and moisture resistant. The case is in good condition; there is evidence of an earlier thread through strap to the back of the watch.

The lens is in nice condition.

The dial is enamel. There are small marks and a couple of faint hairline cracks. It has a good vintage look with Roman numerals, with a red 12, a subsidiary seconds dial, outer minute track and skeletal hands (some of the infill is missing from the minute hand) - the hands are adjusted by way of the pin set mechanism.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.
