A fine quality late Victorian / Edwardian Mahogany Partners Desk of rare proportions. This superb quality antique mahogany partners desk has fantastic proportions with a beautifully carved rope edged top with a mahogany banding and leather insert with blind tooling. The antique Chippendale style desk has a central mahogany drawer over a kneehole with two drawers flanking each side above a pedestal raised on carved ogee bracket feet. Each pedestal has three cockbeaded drawers to the front with brass swan neck handles and fretted back plates and moulded doors to the back with carved rosettes which open to reveal storage space with a sliding tray. All the drawers are fully mahogany lined with hand cut dovetails. This desk has moulded sides as well as to the inside with four carved rosettes above a hand carved lower mould running around each pedestal base. Chippendale was one of Englands best cabinetmakers and furniture designers with this style partners desk being a firm favourite of his design and has been desired for generations.
