Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
Of serpentine shape and a particularly good warm colour, the shaped lid with its vacant cartouche to the top, opens to reveal the twin compartments, with lids also veneered in tortoiseshell and with ivory knob handles.
It is edged with ivory and supported on the original substantial ivory ball feet. 8.5ins wide; 7ons high. (21 x 17.5cms)
