A Watercolour: Poole Harbour Dated 1890

Description

W.P.KNOWLES**: a well composed and delightfully painted WATERCOLOUR of Poole Harbour.

This interesting and well-documented scene depicts the busy harbour, with barges; a rowing boat; a steam-driven paddle tug and various tall-masted vessels berthed at the waterfront.

To the reverse is the original artists label which states that this was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1890. 27ins wide and 19ins high including the frame. (65 x 47cms).

** William Pitcairn KNOWLES lived in Christchurch, Hampshire and was active from 1882-1892. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and in Suffolk Street amongst other galleries.
