Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
On the top is an intricately carved cornice. There are three glazed top doors, with adjustable shelves inside. It has the original carved corbels across the top & bottom section. There is a secretaire desk section in the middle that's flanked by drawers either side. The three bottom cupboards are panelled & sit on a plinth base. There are also original bun handles on all the doors & drawer fronts. The grain of the mahogany is wonderful throughout & it has a lovely original colour & patina. It's also in fabulous original condition. It was sold by a company called 'James Winter & Sons (1823 - 1870)' & still bears the original label. They were comprehensive house furnishers and retailers. Surviving furniture bearing their stamp is always of fine quality.
