Description

Very impressive curvaceous antique French style 'Bureau Plat' writing table or desk, which I would date to around the 1920's period. It's wonderful quality, with loads of fine marquetry & inlays of many exotic woods on the top, back, sides & drawer front. It also has very bold classical gilt mounts on the tops of the legs, plus more gilt mounts, handles, top edge & feet. The wood, not counting the marquetry & inlays looks like predominately King Wood. This piece looks great from all angles, because it's finished off the same all over, with excellent shaping. There is one drawer to the front & the back has the form of the drawer. This table has just been French polished, so is in great condition & it looks as though it's just come out from a palace in Versailles.
