The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1910s.
There is a 1cm scratch to the handle but other than that, just general light surface marks. The dish weighs 67.1g.

The silver handled knife measures 13.5cm long and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1913, with a maker's mark for Thomas Henry Vale (specialists in silver pencil and silver handles for items such as button hooks and knives). The knife weighs 17.3g. The steel blade has minor marking.

The dish and knife come in their original presentation box from Reid & Sons. Also included is the original presentation card from when the set was presented to Lady Superintendent Mrs Thirlwall in 1914, on the occasion of her silver wedding.
