Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The stand is supported by the most elegant splayed feet and the kettle secured with the use of two "keys" one releases the back of the kettle so that it could pivot on the front hinge to pour while still on the stand. The key to the front can also be released removing the kettle completely.

The stand is decorated with wonderful cast floral and foliate garlands. What also makes this kettle a particularly special example is the grand Pumpkin finial to the lid, the figural spout terminating with a birds head and further down an integral mythical face; quite exceptional.

The underside is fully marked for the well renowned silversmith, Martin Hall & Co, dating to around 1880.
An impressive and grand size, measuring 9 1/4" including spout and towering 15 1/2" tall to top of handle.
