Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The piece of Rosewood used to create this box was outstanding, just look at the dramatic grain colouring on the back and side of the box.

The interior has been beautifully re-lined in blue hand-marbled paper, creating the most perfect, clean finish. The inside of the lid is all original with it's gold embossed leather frame and velvet panel. This section can be released to reveal a pouch for papers and letters and behind this is the original removable mirror which has an integral easel stand.

The button between the two hinges, once pressed, will open the spring loaded drawer with it's original fitted interior.
A stunning heirloom example in excellent condition. Measuring 12 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 6 3/4" tall.
