Description

This very impressive pair of Bergere armchairs are amazing quality & are in lovely condition. They have just been recovered & are very comfortable, because the seat cushions are generously filled with feathers, while the backs are sprung. These armchairs are Swedish & are Satin Birch with wonderful carving all over. Please look at all of the images to appreciate the details. They have a great shape all over, with carved scroll over arms & ball & claw feet. I would say they date from around the 1910-20's period. Satin Birch is one of my favourite woods, because it has great figuring in the wood & a lovely silky glow to it. These chairs still have the original double cane on the sides, which is still in good condition & they are upholstered on the backs.
