George II Mahogany "Kneehole" Dressing Chest

Description

A particularly fine quality mid-18th century George II period solid mahogany DRESSING CHEST in lovely condition.

Below the well figured "caddy" top with its corner mouldings, is one long drawer, with three further drawers to each side, flanking the central kneehole. To the centre of this kneehole is a locking cupboard, with panel door, which has the rare feature of sliding forward to facilitate access.

It stands on two pairs of solid mahogany ogee feet to the front; all brass handles and locks are original and all the drawers are beautifully lined in clean 'dry' oak. A lovely 'kneehole' in superb condition. 33ins (84cms) wide; 18.5ins (47cms) deep, front-to-back.
