Stunning Inlaid French Burr Cedar Tea Caddy - Brass Mounted C.1860

Description

A very stylish tea caddy dating to around 1860. The tea caddy is made from Burr Cedar, with it's rich cognac colour and curly tight burl.

The slightly domed lid is has a central burr cedar panel surrounded by Ebony cross-banding and Kingwood flaked either side by polished brass stringing. The centre of the lid has a beautiful cut brass, Ebony, Kingwood and Mother of Pearl inlay .. quite beautiful.

The caddy lid opens to reveal a Rosewood lined lid and a double compartment caddy with brass knobs. The box comes complete with a working key. Excellent condition, measuring 9 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" tall.
