Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The head of the dog opens to reveal the ink chamber. The dog is hand chased all over to give it a realistic texture. The dog retains his two original little glass eyes.
The plinth is a heavy piece of stone, perhaps polished slate, with a little age chip. Excellent condition and about as charming as they come. The base measures 5 1/2" x 3" and stands 5" tall.
