Heavily Weighted Large Antique English Staunton Chess Set in Locking Box C.1870

Description

A fabulous large Victorian Chess set in the Staunton pattern made from Boxwood and Ebony.

Each piece is heavily weighted making this a wonderful set to play with, the heavy ones are always most sought-after and equally, hard to find.

The box is unusual too, with an original brass lock intact complete with a working key. The interior is lined in a green baize to protect the pieces. All of the pieces are in excellent condition, one pawn with a hairline following the wood grain, insignificant but mentioned and shown for accuracy.

The King stands 3 3/4" tall with a base diameter measuring 1 3/4".
