The "piano" top is veneered in beautifully figured walnut, which opens to reveal a well fitted interior with two mahogany lined drawers, pen tray and a leather lined adjustable writing surface. The right hand side with four mahogany lined drawers each retaining their original locks, escutcheons and turned walnut drawer pulls. The front, sides and back of the davenport also veneered in beautifully figured choice burr walnut veneers and with pierced walnut carved supports, the whole supported on turned walnut bun feet with concealed brass castors English circa 1860
